| Capacitance is measured in Farads. One Farad is a
very high
capacitance, which you will almost certainly never encounter. Typically
you will find capacitors in the microfarad (uF - one millionth of a
Farad), nanofarad (nF - one thousand millionth of a Farad) and
picofarad (pF - one million millionth of a Farad) ranges. Confusion can
sometimes occur when values are quoted in different ranges eg. 100nF
and 0.1uF are the same value. The table below shows some of these
equivalent values, together with the code that you might find printed
on the capacitor itself. |
